Arraial do Cabo
is the Brazilian capital of scuba diving and its main attraction is the ocean. While the temperature of the water on the beach is 23-26 degrees year long, there is a cold layer just above the bottom and the use of 6mm suit when scuba diving is recommended. There are 88 wrecks in the area a great scuba diving attraction. Snorkeling or spear fishing is another popular activity. The boat trips are unforgettable, especially the one to the Blue Grotto with stops at the Pontal do Atalaia and floating restaurant.
The town itself, surrounded by hills and resembling a fishing village, has white dunes, sandbanks, lagoons, unspoiled beaches and beautiful headlands, like Pontal do Atalaia, where you can enjoy a wonderful coastal sunset. At Big beach, stretching as far as the horizon in the direction of Saquarema beach, you can indulge in a late-afternoon drink and a bite to eat in one of the bars. For the more energetic travelers, there is a number of trails to explore, such as the one that leads to the old lighthouse.
